Track the Reddit Ads KPIs That Matter

Now that you're running your Reddit ad campaigns, it's time to track your wins and Ls. Here are a list of metrics you should track so you can optimize your ads to get results.

Like any ad platform, you must track certain numbers to ensure your ads perform well. Here are the KPIs to track:

1. CTR (Click-Through Rate): 0.5%–1% is considered strong on Reddit, but to push beyond that, focus on hyper-relevant subreddits and make sure your ad feels native to the community.

Test multiple variations that mimic the style and humor of the subreddit you’re targeting to see CTR improvements.

2. Conversion Rate: Expect 3%–5% for free trials or lead capture, but keep in mind that Redditors often need more nurturing before they convert.

Use lead magnets or low-friction CTAs that align with the user's intent on the subreddit—think educational webinars in r/Entrepreneur, or exclusive product discounts in r/PersonalFinance. Ensure your landing page mirrors the tone and promise of your ad to avoid drop-offs and build trust.

3. Engagement Rate: High engagement in comments signals a well-received ad, and on Reddit, comment sections can make or break your campaign. Proactively monitor your ad’s comment thread, respond quickly, and use authentic language to join the conversation.

Ads that get heavily upvoted or spark genuine discussions often get free organic lift, so treat your comment management like an extension of the ad itself. Avoid deleting negative feedback unless it’s abusive—Redditors value transparency and often respect brands that handle criticism gracefully.

4. Cost Per Acquisition (CPA): Typically lower than LinkedIn, but optimize continually by refreshing creatives every two to three weeks to combat ad fatigue, and double down on subreddits where you've already seen success.

Use Reddit's native pixel for tracking conversions, but supplement it with external analytics to better understand multi-touch journeys, since Reddit users may convert later via organic search or direct visits.

💡Hidden Trick: Use “Power User Hours” because Reddit engagement peaks at 6 AM–9 AM and 6 PM–10 PM (local time zones).

Optimize bids for these windows, but also consider the cultural habits of each subreddit; for example, career-focused subreddits are more active during weekday mornings, while hobbyist or gaming communities light up in the evenings and on weekends.

Split-test campaigns by time blocks and adjust your bid strategy dynamically—Reddit's auction system rewards advertisers who align closely with user activity patterns, letting you win more impressions without overspending.
